Mountain View recently confirmed that a consumer desktop mode is still happening, and devs can test out the new functionality on the Pixel Tablet using the latest developer preview. Google is implementing desktop windowing using “freeform” windows that can be resized and moved at will.

I really hope it’s just a mode on the tablet itself and doesn’t require a connection like Samsung Dex.
With that said though, I loved the concept with Dex. I really enjoyed using it when I found the opportunity.
Oh, please please PLEASE I hope they can get this right to get some real competition in the tablet space.
