I was obsessed with Payday and PD2 before the series moved towards a pay-2-win model, and I haven’t played since. I assume PD3 is going with the same model? Its gotta be riddled with micro transactions, right?
I’d love to get back in, but thats a dealbreaker for me.
I am really hoping they ditch the bloated design of PD2 and use this as a fresh slate to not repeat some of the same mistakes as last time (I have my doubts, hence why I will let it simmer a bit before I dive in if its looking alright). I couldnt care if they added a pass or something that gives cosmetics (NO GAMEPLAY NECESSARY STUFF) if they need that long term cash, but PD2 became so DLC bloated over its life that it became a barrier to entry, or a barrier to even want to boot the game up again after another 5 little DLC purchasable thingies were dropped in the last 2 weeks
Couldn’t agree more. The core gameplay is so fun, I’d love to play again without the bullshit.
Same - played PD2 for almost 1500 hours and it was lame that a lot of the best weapons came from very specific DLC over the years. I know they bundled everything, but then it just became bloated with so much crap that it was daunting trying to look up what weapons were DSOD viable or not.
Hope they go back to something that’s more akin to the original Payday when it comes to weaponry, where each weapon had distinct pros and cons and use cases.
What pay-2-win model? Balance in PD2 is a mess but all you really need is the legacy pack to beat the hardest difficulties.
I remember all the best weapons and perk decks were DLC, but this was like a decade ago.
Oh, that’s still technically the case but they bundled all of the DLC from before the game was revived into a cheap package and a lot of that stuff is still the best gear in the game.
I miss it, but trying to keep up with DLC at a pint got absurd. I haven’t played since White House came out
Maybe there will be a GOTDecade edition when 3 comes out with all the DLC for a reasonable price. I’d get that.
