It’s very frustrating going over all of this with people who want to believe that ebul China is doing a big meanie thing. You can talk about how the US has massively funded terrorist groups (while removing them from their terrorist watchlist) in the region, you can go over how only western, Christian nations “care” about Muslims in Xinjiang, you can go over how there are other groups like the Hua who are also Muslim, but not “persecuted.”
You can show them how Israel behaves towards Palestine and show how a genocidal state will be smugly proud of their actions, not “trying to hide them” as they claim China is doing.
You can ask them to think what a nation would do if they were innocent and wanted to prove their innocence (usually they’ll come up with a straight forward “let international observers come and see”) and then backpedal when they find out China has been doing exactly that, but it has been the western nations making these accusations that have refused to investigate further.
You can point out that the people propagating this stuff are extremely racist and anti-China, even full on white supremacists (who are unlikely to sincerely care about the plight of Muslims). There’s so much stuff you can point out about this just making no sense and clearly being atrocity propaganda to foster mindless hate, and then they just reject everything you say and resume hating. It’s so frustrating.

I find that it isn’t the Fox News folks who freak out about Xinjiang, it’s the left-liberals. The conservatives are just openly racist, but the libs need to find an excuse.
I was saying that more in the sense that left-liberals will run to fascist outlets like Fox because it reaffirms their beliefs, and they would rather believe their “greatest enemy” over a communist.
Plus Fox News absolutely goes feral over Xinjiang. Liberals are just more online on places like Reddit, so they spout it more in places like that.
Ah, I see. We don’t really have Fox news over here, so our local liberals get their “information” on evil China from youtube instead. People mostly know the Murdoch media lies, but they will happily swallow the exact same bullshit as long as it is in a different format to the one they think is propaganda
