Don’t know what app I like yet.

  • Connect have the worse UI in my opinion (things are hidden).
  • Jerboa crashes a lot on my phone.
  • Thunder is slow to load and the search is bad.
  • wefwef I like the search and exploration, but the text editing is the worse.

Where’s Sync?!? 😭

When did you last use Connect? All of these apps are improving fast. Right now, I prefer Connect.

I think the most recent Connect updates makes it much better. I’ve been using it more than Liftoff the last couple of days. Is Thunder not on the Google Play store? I couldn’t find it.

Despite the iPhone-focused interface, I’ve found myself using Voyager/Wefwef the most. Liftoff is second. Jerboa is third as it is functional, but just doesn’t seem to match my work flow.

I also have Thunder and Connect, but I don’t find myself using those as much.

I’m also patiently waiting for Sync.

I love wefwef/voyager. This might not be a normal feature people use but I love wefwef’s deep linking feature (on android). I have a push notification system for lemmy which detects incomming emails from lemmy and uses ntfy to send reddit sync like push notifications. In wefwefs case I can set ntfy to open voyagers inbox directly. Voyager is also nice since opening a unread message (or interacting with it) auto marks it as read (which I don’t believe other clients do for some reason, I could be wrong though).

I’m switching between them too. I like Lemming, or any app that offers swipe to vote.

If your apps are slow or crashing you need to join a different instance. I switched from World to Blahaj and it’s insanely fast.

May be. I’m on Brazilian instance that runs on green energy. I’ll wait a little more, the instances are very young yet, let them have more time to grow 😁

I’m trying out Liftoff right now, and so far I think it’s given me the best overall experience. I think I’ll wait until the rest of the Lemmy apps stabilize before thinking about trying other apps again.

I like it overall, but it’s so unintuitive to me. Not a huge fan of the slide functionality, especially the dual action sliding. It probably gets easier once you get used to it though.

It definitely gets easier as you use it. Now the slides in connect irritate me, because if I overshoot and reach the save one, it saves even if I don’t actually remove my finger and that’s annoying because I have to unsave again.

I’m on Connect right now. I quite like it, especially how fast it is (or maybe that’s a consequence of Lemmy being fast in general). UI seems clean enough. But I really really miss the content filtering that Sync provided.

I was really positively surprised to hear Sync is being developed for Lemmy. Hoping it releases soon!

Wasn’t aware of Connect, that might actually be the one to hold me until Sync comes out. I was jumping between jerboa (for the swipe actions) and thunder (for the UI similar to sync), but connect seems to have both and a few other things that remind me of Sync (cards for posts, hold to collapse comment thread, swipe actions for post).

I know you posted out of frustration but thanks for the suggestion!

I get frustrated with the way connect does hold to collapse, because it means that I can’t copy text to cite in comment replies.

it means that I can’t copy text to cite in comment replies.

Like /u/Danilo said; you need to tap the comment, copy text and then insert as a quote. It’s not exactly intuitive, but it seems to be the way to do it. I hope it gets fixed.

        Edit: spelling.

You can tap the comment, go on the three dots and it will give you the option to copy text. Haven’t really tried but I assume it would copy the entire comment so it would probably need some editing in case you just want to cite part of it.

Yeah, I can understand that, in sync you can at least copy while you are replying, connect still does the collapse on the reply page with the single comment you’re replying to

Do any of these apps for Android offer a RIF style interface layout that doesnt feel like scrolling on the generic reddit app?
