Oh yeah, back in the ’90s hundreds of Soviets queued up because they were excited to try some Yankee fast‐food for the first time. It made sense if you saw it from their perspective, but as somebody stuck in Imperial America I don’t see the appeal. It’s just some mediocre, overpriced fast‐food that keeps you full for maybe about an hour or two if it doesn’t act like a laxative before then.
This photo really represents the end of an era, it’s just such a perfect representation of what capitalism promised them, vs what it actually delivered them.
Looks like it’s time for some Public/Private partnerships! Really just let the free market handle it. Selling off public utilities will just be more efficient. Because no big beauracravic overhead and no it’s not disaster capitalism it’s opportunity capitalism look at how great Argentina is now

The problem with imperialism and colonialism is that colonized people eventually break free. The British Empire squandered its ill gotten wealth with nothing to show for it.
Indeed, eventually the cost of maintaining the empire exceeds the plunder you get from it and at that point the core becomes rapidly hollowed out.
