The official results are expected early Monday, with voter turnout on course to be the highest in decades.
Against all odds, the socdems beat the liberals and reduced a surging far-right to an embarrassing third place. French fascists are stomping on their berets and cartoonishly snapping baguettes in half.
This is probably the least bad outcome so…yay, i guess. It doesn’t solve the systemic problems of French politics that led to the rise of the far right though and next time around they will be even stronger. So long as the left does not present a credible anti-EU, anti-NATO, anti-neoliberal and anti-war alternative, the right will continue to gain ground.
Voting for a left-wing party over liberals defeated the fascists… wait does that mea… error… error… vote blue no matter who! vote blue no matter who! there is no alternative!
How left are these left parties?
I view it as a unite the libs and the left to elect libs to keep the lib opposition out of power, but make no concessions to the MLs and keep doing the same lib shit that got us here.
Basically Progressivism.
There’s some MLists but the majority are just socdems, however this is an important crank to the left.
