  • A shitton of land is suburban wasteland and all the infrastructure to support it. Turf grass alone takes up 2% of all land in the US (from a quick search) and I imagine the stroads, strip malls, and single family homes with 3+ car garages take up another 3-5%. The problem has always been wasteful and destructive land use rather than scarcity. Imagine all the current suburbs as parks, farmland, or rewilded areas instead of ugly tract homes. I don’t think infinite growth is possible or anything but cities should be looking to Shanghai and Tokyo as a blueprint.

It’s also hilarious to me that NIMBYs are so opposed to any form of urbanization because “muh property value” when the highest property values are in the most urbanized, walkable places.

  • I feel like all the subtle hints and indirect flirting is just kind of boring and counter-intuitive. If you’re into someone just come out and say it. There’s so many chances to miss the signals even if both people are NT which can end up in a missed connection. It seems like it’s almost a special interest for some NT people and it’s totally the opposite for me.

  • The year is 2784. What’s left of humankind after the water wars, wildfires, rising sea levels, wet bulb events, and category 10 hurricanes of the past 700 years has managed to leave the solar system on a generation ship. The Elder Scrolls 14 has just come out after a tortured 36-year development cycle with 19 years dedicated to “rebuilding” the engine. It’s a Microsoft Holodeck exclusive. You go in and the first NPC you see clips through a boulder and starts slowly sinking into the ground after clearing it while muttering to themselves about mudcrabs. The gamma setting is slightly off and there’s no way to adjust it. You start to move forward and the world hitches as trees pop in mere meters before you in ultra-low LOD, slowly coming into full detail over a few seconds.

I’m never preordering a Bethesda hologame again.

The Todd Howard AI installed in your neutral implant chuckles quietly.
