You do realize that the foods we are going to have a crisis over includes literally all the stuff you eat instead of meat too right
Even if you think Elon is wonderful and doing just a great goodboy job in the government, you have to admit that he can’t possibly be monitoring Tesla at all right now. There’s only 24 hours in a day for everyone.
And while it’s probably for the best that he ISN’T in the office at all, he does still own the thing, so what he does is still a problem for the company.
So even if you ignore that he’s a nazi, which you shouldn’t, and just care about the car, you can’t imagine that Tesla the company is very secure right now. And these are not cars that are easy to just go get literally anyone to repair. So if Tesla fell apart tomorrow, it’d put your car investment in a very bad place.
I mean 99.99999% of people are going to care more that he’s, again, a nazi doing nazi things right now, but chances are a lot of those people already knew that and already bailed on Tesla cars. His behavior now is going to affect the people willing to overlook that. Instead of putting out new (and ideally for just about any market more affordable) models he’s theoretically more focused on his robots or whatever, and in practice focused only on fucking around in the government and not Tesla at all. Nobody is looking to buy an old Tesla, and he’s not doing anything new besides the massive failure that is the Cybertruck, so why WOULD someone buy one?
He has gotten at least three grants in the past that I saw on the NLNet website for Pixelfed, but none were listed as active when I looked. However, since you have to complete your project to get paid out I didn’t see a way to know if he actually received any or all of those grants. The current active grant is just for Loops. I believe the old Pixelfed grants also required certain licensing and the project being open source though.
Also, as of this morning, he was posting about how in order to make Loops open source and federated he needs to hit $200k on his Kickstarter. However, he was previously challenging people who were claiming it’s not currently federated or open sourced. So now the story is that it’s not yet and he needs more money to make that happen when previously he was claiming it already was both of those things.
It’s…a mess for sure.
I don’t care how long a season is anymore I just care how complete the idea is. The amount of shows with a satisfying ending is extremely low. And it’s always been low but it’s only getting worse. A ridiculous amount of shows just get tossed in the garbage as they’re trying to develop a cohesive story.
They got some unknown amount of VO recorded for him so I guess they intend to use it. I have to assume that if they weren’t this far along already they would have cancelled it but it sounds like they were pretty deep in already.
Seriously they’re going to fire just about everyone. It’s not much of a threat.
I really don’t see any reason for them to believe they’ll have jobs in even a week anyway by behaving.
I was posting this elsewhere recently but people massively underestimate how the US’s size factors into this. You can drive 10 hours from some parts of Texas and still be in Texas. The amount of money it would take to assemble all of us willing to protest in locations that would actually matter is incredible, and protesting in small town Kentucky won’t do much for you. We flat out cannot get the whole country together. I’m like 9 hours away from the capitol and I am closer than 80% of the country to the capitol.
Well, it’s kind of up to him. His NLNet grants require it to be open source and dictate what license he uses, but I don’t know the details to know if that just means it has to be open sourced in order to receive the grant (awarded upon completion not ahead of time) or right away.
A few days ago he posted (then I think deleted) this, which among other things makes me extremely inclined to not believe anything he says:
In March 2019 I teased the Pixelfed mobile app. The only problem was, I didn’t know how to write one. So just like the original “federated instagram” post, I faked a commercial to build hype. It was coming along well. Then in mid 2020, I came out and put the app aside. It wasn’t until late 2022 that I found a Pixelfed react native app, and cloned it and tinkered. In 2023 I released the first Pixelfed app, but it was slow. I rewrote it from scratch in May 2024. From faking, to making!
The guys that are telling us they have to dismantle the entire government because it costs too much wants the country to buy TikTok
Smart in the face of Facebook’s slow death, but god I wish it was anyone else doing it.
It would be a way better movie if you just cut out that trash at the beginning. Even then it’s iffy, but there’s some bits of it that are very good and some bits that are very bad. But the eugenics angle really makes it hard to go back to now that I’m not a teenager.
I wouldn’t say Republican just hardcore libertarian. Which is still bad.
King of the Hill had a lot of fantastic writers and staff working on it, but it ran for a very long time. The politics of the show vary wildly as it goes on. The worst episodes in the show are the ones where it feels like Mike Judge personality saw half of a Fox News headline and got mad about trans fat bans or bond measures or the ADA. In some episodes it’s a progressive show and in some it feels like the Mike Judge Twig Boy Hate Soapbox Hour.
King of the Hill is maybe the show I have watched the most of in my life, I have a very deep love of this show, and…I could not possibly want it to return less. Between Mike Judge’s work after it ended, his weird libertarianism not aging well, Hardwick’s death and just being tired of reboots, I don’t want it back. It belongs where it was.
I mean realistically speaking a guy like Dale would have been horribly racist in the 90s and 2000s as well. But nobody wants that in a TV show so it made sense to just sidestep that and stick to the “fun” conspiracies. So I don’t see why you’d change that now.
