regardless of what happens with trump, the forces that made him are all still at work. in other countries too, like austria. 24 hour news, social media disinformation, algorithm radicalization, fear of immigration… MAGA is here to stay i think even if slightly weakened without trump.

It’s not like his followers are going to just snap out of it. What, are Dem shock troops going to close all the GOP controlled churches and media outlets? Demagafy every workplace culture from the top down with federal culture agents? There’s whole industries, a whole sick cosmos of worldview thoroughly invested in keeping the GOP crazy train rolling indefinitely, in the past 8+ years a sizeable number of children have been raised maga. Be prepared for 10-15 years to even slow the growth let alone reverse course and for it to hang around in some form for a century.

Its a cult of personality. Getting rid of the personality (Which, if Trump loses, is fairly certain vis a vis the numerous pending cases and to a lesser extent age.) won’t kill it but it should put a big damper on it, unless they can pull off some Church of Scientology shit, which I personally doubt.

It actually does. You just said that if trump loses then the problem will largely go away which is the opposite of the truth and what I said

              It actually does.

              It actually does not.

Sounds like you’re calling me a liar. Say that instead of beating around the bush.

              That said.

You just said that if trump loses then the problem will largely go away

I said, and I quote, like you should have, instead of parroting bullshit unoriginal talking points you half remembered in an attempt to sound smart:

It WON’T kill it, but it should PUT A BIG DAMPER ON IT.

It’s a cult of personality based around a authoritarian strongman. Folks ain’t just putting on red hats to support the GOP. They are putting up TRUMP flags. They are putting TRUMP bumper stickers on their cars. They are tying their identity to TRUMP. If Trump ran 3rd party… they’d be voting 3rd party. No one else in the GOP has anywhere even remotely near the charisma/draw of Trump in the GOP. We both know this.

The rising tide of white nationalism/populism/authoritarianism is heavily tied to Trump enabling it from up on high along with absolutely filling the airwaves with his latest dipshit action, without him they lose their cover, and groups start getting dismantled, unless someone else can grab the reigns real fucking quick, and as I just noted: There’s no one to do that. You think people are gonna give a shit about JD Vance? MTG? One of Trump’s goober sons? Who is the next in line to head up the MAGA grift if Trump died tomorrow? If you spent more then 5 seconds thinking on that, that person isn’t really it.

I’m not here to argue with you, I said you’re wrong about the way you put it. We’re stuck with the Trump type, most likely. But honestly I hope I’m wrong and you’re right. Just trying to be prepared for the alternative

Ps. No need to be so aggressive and angry toward someone who probably would agree with you 75% or more if you actually had a real conversation with them
