Summary
In China, sensitive stories often attract organized groups of loyalists who target foreign reporters to prevent coverage. Despite the government’s efforts to manage societal issues, the reasons behind such horrific acts remain elusive.
Often, when sensitive stories like this unfold in China, local Communist Party officials organise groups of cadres to pretend to be outraged locals who have been given the role of targeting foreign reporters and preventing any coverage.
Invariably it doesn’t stop the stories, it just makes China look bad.
It certainly reinforces my negative view of their government. As an American I feel very well equipped to empathize with the people of Zhuhai in regards to this kind of senseless violence, but I suppose the party saving face is more important than that.
The government has done nothing but spreading hatred against all sorts of foreigners since it’s infancy. They make no real effort to manage these issues, it’s the exact opposite. I mean the government clearly does not tolerate criticism against itself but they know people need to vent so racism became their channel of choice here. Even if you don’t know what the Chinese media landscape looks like, this is not difficult to figure out with an ongoing genocide and all.
Because we, in the western media, are always right and anyone who criticises us are wrong. We don’t have an agenda, honest, just check out our coverage of of the
genociI mean war in Gaza.
