If your Google account is banned, it could cause widespread issues for you. No Gmail, no Docs, no YouTube — it’s a scary thought.

Is there any email you can use that doesn’t have this issue?

Really, the problem is with all the places you make accounts. Now that I think about it, all of them should allow you to add a second email address to use, just in case you lose access to the first.

Is there any email you can use that doesn’t have this issue? The article gives an example where people have their entire Google account banned just because they commented on youtube videos. So, using an email from a single-service company should drastically reduce the chance of an account ban.

It’s weird how the article doesn’t even mention that part - which is honestly the much bigger issue.

The google services are one thing, but the big deal is getting locked out of all the other sites, services and subscriptions people signed up for using their gmail address.

Personally I have been de-googling over the past few years, and moving all my accounts to an alternative email.

I still keep a google account because I want to use youtube and maps, but I intentionally don’t comment or post or do anything. If I don’t engage with the “community” there’s little chance of getting spuriously reported and banned, or any similar bullshit.
