      It’s caused by the fire itself. As the fire gets bigger the heat intensifies which causes a wind and it starts fanning itself. That’s how jasper alberta burned down instantly this summer

        While true that fires create their own weather systems, So Cal was already experiencing insane winds prior to and during all these fires cropping up. The Santa Ana winds are notorious around these parts for being ravenous and bringing extremely dry conditions, while everything down here was already parched to begin with.
