      You’re not powerless, but those in power would much prefer if you believe there’s nothing you can do.

      Organizing and getting involved on a local level are some of the most powerful things we can do, as it lays the groundwork for creating a new system in the shell of the old.

      Here’s a handy guide on how to get started.

      Look for your local Food not bombs or mutual aid groups, they’re a great entry point into getting into the world of direct action, where communities attempt to solve problems without waiting and hoping that corrupt and ineffective government to fix it for them.

      If you live in a very rural area where you can’t find an existing group to join, I would implore you to try starting one yourself, hopefully with a group of like minded friends if you can.

      Building up your community and making genuine connections will pay off in dividends in the coming years, do not underestimate how powerful doing so can be.
