Okay, so first I thought that I had subscribed to a few communities from different servers and they weren’t showing up in my feed. But apparently I never subscribed to them and seem unable to do so.
Here’s what’s happening: I go to a different instance and browse their communities. When I want to select one and tap “Subscribe” I’m asked to enter my home instance and then am redirected there, it says “Community federated!” but then a completely different community (from the instance I was browsing before) is shown below that with a “subscribe” button. No matter how often I try, I’m never directed to the community that I wanted to subscribe to.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Ah, the remote community federation from actually another instance might be finicky.
Let’s take an example: [email protected]
- if you click that link, you should get redirected to https://leminal.space/c/[email protected] , which would allow you to subscribe (that works 100%)
- if you go to https://lemm.ee/c/movies and try to subscribe and then give your home instance, that might not work.
The first option is usually preferred, and that’s while you’ll see a lot of ! links over here.
A good community to discover communities: [email protected] , especially this post: https://leminal.space/post/15455263
This worked! Thank you! :)
While on the https://leminal.space/ website, open the search page and paste in the community ID or the URL of the community. Give it a few seconds (even if it says no results found, the remote search can take a few seconds longer than that)
I think the remote subscribe feature you were trying to use is still buggy, I’ve had issues with it before too.
I usually just search for the community from my instance. They look like e-mail adresses: [email protected]
When the community is new on your instance you will have to wait a few seconds and maybe try again.
