So 6% of Germans would buy a Tesla, Ford only has a 5% market share in Germany so I feel like 6% is still a lot Germans to have an interest in buying a car from a minor American auto company …

There’s a few possibly contradicting points in that article which raise questions over the quality of the “over 100,000” quantity surveyed.

While I’m sure percentages would obviously be in decline, I suspect the 100,000 doest have a diversity that can represent national per capita stats.

Edit: Frequently I feel like “question everything unusual” doesn’t apply when it’s what Lemmy wants to hear. So, no doubt I am a Trump supporter 👍 Just in before that happens.

Edit Edit: And…sigh…_ “/s” on the Trump supporting. Because the same crowd needs “/s”.

That’s not how that works, according to the article: The question is about “would take into consideration”, not “having an interest”.

And according to the article the figures are true for Tesla owners as well - and that is a very impressive result in my opinion to have basically zero brand lately.

(Something no one should have in my personal opinion, but Germans really stick to what they know, that’s why it’s so impressive to me)

You probably right that not not wanting to buy a car doesn’t equate to wanting to buy a car. I guess what I’m saying is 6% of the population not not wanting to buy a car from a minor American car company in Germany seems like a lot when even a company like Ford can only muster a 5% market share.

But that’s the thing: Tesla was the only option, especially for early adopters. Nowadays there are many more options, including most German car manufacturers (finally), so people can again “stick to what they know”.
