Hi,

I just set up my jellyfin server(on a reverse proxy) and I noticed that sometimes it takes a min or buffers alot when I watch at 1080P. I run my server on dell OptiPlex 3020 with 16gb ram and a sdd(no graphics card). I also have a 1gb internet with 35 upload speed. eventually I want to add a few user on it, but I up just working out the kinks. Would you guys have any recommendation for network settings that I could modify to help have a faster buffering speed(or any videos on this)?

You need to disable transcoding because you have no GPU to offload it to.

Problem is, you can’t disable transcoding in jellyfin.

    Should have used Plex tbh.

Why do you think it is your network? Can you do an iperf test between the server and client?

Wait you think that 35mbps upload is high? No sir, you couldn’t be more wrong.

I would literally give up half of my download speed just to have an upload speed that was over 100mbps at home.
