You know how rich people go “I earn so much money, I can’t even spend it all” and such?

Yeah, how the fuck have we not put 2 and 2 together and not tax the shit out of them? Oh yeah, we let them buy out the legislation.

it’s not that they can’t it’s that if they did they wouldn’t be rich.

Rich can be cured by a weekend in Vegas. Wealthy is terminal.

If a Vegas weekend can “cure it”, that ain’t rich.

But I think Chris Rock said it best: “Shaq is rich. The old white guy signing his paychecks is wealthy.”

Isn’t it true that M4A could be paid for 3x with the amount we currently spend on our existing system? The insurance companies are the scam.

Yes, the amount we pay just for Medicare and Medicaid is much more than we spend on defense (a large part of which goes to the VA, more healthcare). That money is enough that it alone should pay for single payer healthcare, and would in other countries. But our government run healthcare isn’t allowed to negotiate fully, and has to compete with private healthcare. So it’s hamstrung and we get screwed.

Just eliminating insurance would reign in prices significantly.

you don’t need to tax the rich for universal healthcare

source: literally every country with universal healthcare already

The US already overall spends more than enough on healthcare, to fund universal care for everyone. But that fat inflated money pool, needs to pay for a ton of wasteful expenses that have nothing to do with healthcare (billing, insurance sales, people who bounce documents and phone calls back & forth to the insurance companies; and of course profit extraction).

Tax the rich to pay for infrastructure, green energy projects, UBI or other help to the poorest & working poor …heck even throwing billions at fusion energy research, will create a lot more economic activity and be money better spent; than letting the psychopathic wealth hording dragons keep their missions of gold.

Don’t think they have anything against it, their point seemed more like. “If they wanted to implement healthcare, they aren’t being stopped by not taxing them rn”

If America had universal healthcare they’d actually need to tax less because it is the more efficient system.

America already pays more per capita into their Medicare/Medicaid system then most countries with universal healthcare. Just stop adding an extra zero to every line item on a medical bill and you will cover the cost of universal healthcare.

Private insurers and unlimited spending from big pharma lobbyists ensure US politicians keep those extra 0s right where they are, and that we get worse medical outcomes as a bonus on top.

Besides, the capitalists want us dependent on jobs for healthcare. Much easier to manipulate and exploit the workers that way.

I fucking hate that whole hospital wings are named after rich people as if they are doing something good for this world.

Those hospital wings are paid for by ill-gotten gains

Just keep that money in the public purse to begin with and fund the hospital properly instead of waiting for some billionaire to jerk himself off with “philanthropy”

I’m totally fine with taxing the fuck out of billionaires, but imo I think corporations need more attention when it comes to taxation. Trillion dollar companies exist. There shouldn’t even be billion dollar companies.

Y’all. This is a wildly simplistic take. We could take every penny from every American billionaire and not even get close.

We have to tax high-income folks, corporations, etc. We have to roll back the Trump tax cuts.

And more importantly, we have to craft a solid message. And yes, that means emotional propaganda, not facts. Democrats have to SELL this. Facts don’t sell. Emotions sell.

Remember all the low-income idiots freaking out over Biden wanting to raise taxes on incomes over $400,000? We can laugh about how dumb those people are, but we aren’t winning votes.

The top 10% of families in America hold 76% of the country’s wealth. You are the one giving the incorrect and simplistic take.

You can absolutely fund tons of important measures by taking from the rich.

I’m talking about billionaires, not the top 10%. Those are wildly different groups.

You want to talk about taxing the snot of of the 10%, I’m game.
