For me, all my single player aspirations have taken a back seat to The Finals.

It really feels like a breath of fresh air. I used to love squadding up with people in Battlefield Bad Company 2, and in Battlefield 3 and 4. But somewhere along the way, what I loved about those games faded away. The BF series has since floundered and since I never really liked COD for its lone wolf vibes and short TTK in tight static maps. I kinda just gave up the FPS genre entirely.

I dabbled in battle royales but soon realized I was spending large portions of my life just collecting loot for the player that would eventually kill me. There was no sense of team or objective other than survive. All everyone seems to care about is their KD ratio and to me it’s boring.

Enter The Finals, made by Battlefield devs. Its squad and objective centric gameplay is just what I’ve been missing. And most importantly, the best part of Battlefield that I loved was the destruction. This game has the most in depth destruction I have ever seen in a game. Each match is dynamic, interesting, and new. You can think outside the box, your KD doesn’t matter, only supporting your team and fighting for the objective.

I could go on and on (and I kinda already have). But it’s just so good. And as for F2P putting people off (myself included), it’s only cosmetics that can be purchased. All guns and equipment are earned via gameplay.

Anyway, what are you all playing this week?
