sheep penis is disgusting if chinese people eat it, but bull testicles are perfectly acceptable and considered a delicacy when americans eat it? got it.
I hate it when people are disrespecting food culture. Balut is not even genuine Chinese food. Silkworms are also eaten in Japan, Korea, somewhere in India etc. And animal testicles were and are consumed worldwide. Stupid video, probably rage bait
I mean, it makes sense. If you make silk you’ll end up with lots of dead worms - that are edible. Might as well make them taste good and get a good meal out of it. Same with the testicles. You have to castrate most of the male animals anyway. Why throw away food when hunger is always around the corner for most of history?
probably rage bait
Definitely. What is even the fucking point in all sides of that stupid food outrage i seen everywhere nowadays.
Guy I work with had silkworms when they went to China for vacation. They stand firm that they tasted pretty damn good.
People who like these videos probably think sushi and sauerkraut are the limits of acceptable cuisine.
I’m curious, how do silkworms taste?
Fried silkworm chrysalis is delicious and crisp.Similar to fried shrimp but with shell. However, at least in northern China, we don’t eat silkworms directly.
I can’t remember exactly, but I know he said they were a bit bland. I think he described it as a pasta that mostly just tasted like the sauce/toppings.
meanwhile the west
Eating bugs: ewwww.
Eating wet bugs: finally, some good fucking food.
Show me a cockroach with the same quantity of meat on it as a shrimp, and I will eat that in a heartbeat. Don’t forget that the cockroach has to be easily peelable.
Not disagreeing, actually. I’d rather eat arthropods than mammals for a lot of reasons.
Same here. In full honesty, even from an ethical perspective, they’re about as mindless as you can get and roughly on the same level as insects. They’re a perfect replacement for terrestrial mammal livestock.
Easy to grow, lots of vital nutrients and protein, and much more sustainable then livestock.
Well, insects are arthropods. I think they’re fascinating creatures, and they are far from mindless biorobots, but… Yeah, it’d be a lot better than industrial farming of mammals and birds.
The Chinese invented shrimp farming lmao
Yes but only the west care about the difference
I’m surprised they didn’t put in dogs for that extra “eww weird Chinese people food 😒😨” cherry on top
Meanwhile they eat Baozi and probably ate at a Chinese restaurant at one point.
Balut is Filipino, no?
Introduced by China iirc
