New research shows that future buildings inspired by the termites could achieve the same effect as traditional climate control, but with greater energy efficiency and without its carbon dioxide footprint.

          Both exist, but what you’re describing is not that.

          Quick google of “bionics” brings up the definition:

          bionics, science of constructing artificial systems that have some of the characteristics of living systems.

          Biomimetics:

          Biomimetics is an interdisciplinary field in which principles from engineering, chemistry and biology are applied to the synthesis of materials, synthetic systems or machines that have functions that mimic biological processes.
