Playing Paper Mario ! Finished Chapter 2, just started Chapter 3. I think with this speed, it’s going to take me 5-6 more weeks to finish the game. 😀
What about all of you? What have you been playing?
I play at a similar speed man, only have so much time. But I’m replaying Metroid Prime. Beat 1&2 when they came out amazing its been 20 years I’m starting to feel old.
There was a time when I replayed the whole Trilogy every year when summer came around. When it gets hot and sweaty, I still get the urge to dig out the Wii Remote and play them again.
I replayed those recently and thought they held up remarkably well. Both amazing games.
Yeah, being an adult can be very time taking. 😀
I have never played the originals, but the Prime remake is very high on my wishlist. Hoping for rest of the trilogy to release soon too.
I’ve beaten Route A of Nier:Automata today. So next is Route B, a.k.a. the reason a lot of players missed the true ending of the game. And I won’t blame anyone, I almost stopped playing there, too.
My progress in Sparks of Hope has been minimal, but I hope to finish World 2 this weekend.
How many total routes are there?
Techically 3, I would say 2 and a half. Route B is mostly the same as Route A, except you play a different character. Many people stopped playing, thinking it was just a bonus, and completely missed that Route C afterwards is a continuation of the story.
Ah. Interesting. Thanks for the info!
Bout to play kingdom hearts 358/2 days on my DS for the 5th time
Have you played the whole series this many times or have special affection for 358/2?
358/2 days is just the best game for the DS. I’ve played recoded and dream drop distance too and I love them. I’ve never finished any of the main games like KH1 or 2
Wrapping up ORAS and debating between Platinum and Heart Gold. It’s nostalgia week, I guess, as my husband is currently replaying a bunch of Final Fantasy games. XD
Bingeing Pokémon? 😀
Yes. Yes I am. I do this. I get hyper-fixated on a series and after the Gen 9 DLC (disappointing btw) I am once again on a Pokemon kick. I don’t know what it is about this series. Fire Emblem is the only other series to come close, but again with the newer gens.
Kaga created a brilliant game series, but I would probably gnaw off my console arm within the first hour of attempting Thracia. (I’ve watched my husband play it.)
Honkai Star Rail and Final Fantasy 16. Also, just bought Kuro Blaster after learning it was made by the guy who made Cave Story and not published by the company that ripped him off its Cave Story+.
I was just looking at Cave Story+ a few days back, when looking at older games in my wishlist that I still haven’t gotten around to. Would probably play it soon. ish.
How are you enjoying FF 16?
Well, if you go to Pixel’s website, (the creator,) you can download it for free. Itcomes with a new engine and English prepatched.
Its good. Combat is somewhat between FF VII R and Strangers in Paradise, and the plot carries several Best Ofs. I’m playing on “Story Mode” which feels more pre-Dark Souls. Looks great too.
Biggest knock I can give it is the main character has the dopey name of Clive. :p
Ah, cool. Didn’t know he was still giving it away for free.
lol at Clive.
i finished all the races on nfs hot pursuit remastered and started to play ea fc24 ultimate team
Nice! Are you excited about the rumoured NFS Most Wanted remake?
i am indeed, looking forward to it
Finished Picross S5.
Me last week:
I won’t necessarily wait until I finish this one before starting another game
Yeah, that was a lie and I didn’t move on before 100% it. Now waiting for S6 to go on sale to pick it up.
Finished Cassette Beasts: Pier of the Unknown
Speaking of sales, I picked a couple of things that were on sale, and one of them was the Cassette Beasts DLC.
Now, overall this was a fun side-story, but it’s way too short. While $6 for a ~2 hours of entertainment wasn’t the worst purchase I’ve made, I was definitely expecting a bit more of content from this one.
Playing Minoria
Another one I picked up on sale, a Metroidvania from the same developers of Momodora. Overall it’s not a bad game, but it’s incredibly frustrating at times.
The damage numbers are crazy high in this game. Random mobs often hit you for 30-50% of your life bar, and some boss attacks can kill you from anything less than full health. Feels like this game was designed for people who love mastering boss patterns so they can beat them without taking a hit, which unfortunately is not something I enjoy.
At least it looks like I’m on the final battle, so it should be done soon.
Playing Witch on the Holy Night.
While I did more-or-less remember what was going on in the story before I paused this game, it was also fairly early in the story so I decided to start over. Almost done catching up to where I was before.
What did you think of Cassette Beasts? I watched a play through of that one not long ago with mixed reaction. But, I’m curious as to how others received it and how they felt about playing through it.
Loved it. I’m not usually a fan of monster capture games, only managed to finish one Pokemon game (Alpha Sapphire) and even then I only did the bare mimum to see the ending because I was getting really bored.
This game however got me completely addicted, played it non-stop for 5 days to see the ending, and keep coming back for short play sections hunting Rogue Fusions or trying to complete the bestiary.
Left a mini-review in a post a few weeks ago: https://lemmy.world/comment/6623727
Ah! That’s interesting. I’m playing Alpha Sapphire right now. I love Pokemon, but tend toward the newer gens because they have more story.
Older games, or games that mimic older styles, can be pretty hit and miss for me as a result, even though I can appreciate a lot of the work and complexity put into them from an outside view (watching someone else play).
Revisiting the anime got me on a Hoenn kick, so here we are.
If you like indie games, and if you enjoy puzzles and story, have you ever tried Ib? It’s a short indie psychological horror game that is all puzzles (no fighting), but really interesting.

Don’t think I’ve heard of that game before, will take a look.
Have you played any of the Momodora games? I keep seeing them, but haven’t gotten around to playing any of them.
I’ve played Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight and I liked it a lot more than Minoria.
While it shares some of the design issues I mentioned with Minoria, it does offer an Easy mode and more combat options like ranged attacks which make it more enjoyable experience overall. The powerups and overall exploration is more fun too IMO.
Ah, okay. Thanks for the info!
Been revisiting an old favourite of mine from the Wii lately, Boom Blox Bash Party, a chaotic physics-based puzzle game that I reckon still holds up really well. Since the game has several hundred levels in groups you’re free to tackle in any order*, I simply resumed one of my old save files and took on levels in the sets I didn’t finish in that old save file, which if the file select completion percentage is to be believed, is still around half the game. I’ve even been dual-wielding Wii Remotes to take on some of the co-op levels.
Heh, you are playing a “chaotic” game by dual-wielding. Sounds tough.
