Uniforms do equalise kids. As a former teacher, I’m pro uniform.

I mean… that’s not a right. Are you very young perhaps? It can seem difficult as a kid to deal with but as an adult it’s easier to see the benefits. There’s a lot of studies on the improvements made by lessening the differences between the kids.

I’m several years out of the education system and fuck that noise. I’d be interested to see your studies, as a kid I faced mild bullying and always wore cheap clothes but there was never a causal link.

To me this uniform craze is 20 % well-intentioned-but-mostly-useless and 80 % old reactionaries trying to gain a sense of control over the youth (and society in general) which is just another symptom of the societal illness that is bringing back fascism (not that uniforms are inherently fascist… but fascists LOVE uniforms).

Both studies focus on the perception of the issue, not on hard numbers on bullying. What I was looking for are, if cases of bullying drop when school uniforms are introduced.

I mean, can you get hard numbers on bullying? It’s not a black and white situation. If someone feels that they’re being bullied then they are. The American study shows that pupils feel that there’s less bullying. If you want to design your own study then you can, but I’m not sure how.

But that’s not, what they were asked. They were asked about their perception of bullying, so also bullying of others, not only of themselves. I agree, that it would be much better evidence, if they would have just asked if the students get bullied.
My problem with the perception thing is that everyone tells you, that school uniforms help against bullying and then you get school uniforms. So now you might feel, that there’s less bullying, because you have this foregone conclusion, that it must work.
