Yea, Barbie used to have the message that women had to be a certain way, let’s not forget then”math is hard” Barbie. We didn’t let my daughter play with Barbies because the message used to be basically the same as the Kardashians (Be rich, Beautiful, and get a man). Weird how the movie basically changed the whole paradigm.

It’s not that weird, society has changed and thus the marketing.

Lol,even worse the doll was modeled on another Doll from Germany called lilli the call-girl that was sold in adult shops.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the message of the movie. It’s great, but Barbies past was never about female empowerment

I hate that I know this, but the Barbie said, “Math class is tough.”

Yeah to an extent. The movie addresses that actually. Still has an overall message that Barbie is for girls first and not dependent on men or being a homemaker.

Exactly, like how Shell did a campaign with Colin Firth about climate change so they’re now a good company absolutely beyond reproach and we should all uncritically accept them into our lives now.

Back in the 1980s, this used to be referred to as “the Myth of the Benevolent Corporation.”
