These guys buy’em all up make shit games then sells off the company…
Well, Id rather they sell studios than close them down. Closing them just doesnt make sense. RIP Volition and Free Radical.
True enough to that.
Thinking about it more, what the hell is Embracer doing? Like how much did they overspend that theyre basically selling their golden goose, closing studios, and cancelling games left and right? Whats going to be left of Embracer after the dust settles, you know? Seems like theyre cannibalizing themselves.
To be fair, Gearbox was always a pretty crap deal for whoever was buying it because 2K owns the publishing rights to Borderlands in perpetuity. It would not surprise me if they end up under 2K, and that they end up costing 2K a lot less than they cost Embracer.
Ah that’s fair. I forgot about 2K.
Still weird Sega let 2K go.
That’s what I’m saying. Like they just cancelled a bunch of games and closed a bunch of studios, on-top of layoffs at the studios they kept. We’ll also putting good ips out to pasture. I’m not getting their game plan either.
They had a semi firm 2 billion cash injection from the Saudis lined up, so they went nuts buying and buying. That 2 billion deal fell apart, so now they are gutting the golden goose for meat just to keep fed.
Now it all makes sense. Didn’t realize they were making deals with the Saudis. What was it for? I doubt games lol.
Ostensibly it was, to my knowledge. MBS has been throwing Saudi money around to try to diversify away from oil and improve international perception of SA.
improve international perception of SA.
Don’t think it’s working lol
If you close the studio, you can keep the ips and sell them separately. Embracer seems to be strapped for cash after the Saudi deal fell through
