NoInterestingly, I think the source material is flawed in the same way as the GoT TV adaptation: it feels rushed, especially toward the end.

One thing that really bothered me about the books is:

The entire plot hinges on FTL communication via quantum entanglement, which seems more fantasy than sci-fi to me.

Still, there are a lot of fun ideas in the books, so I’ll probably give it a chance.

I put a spoiler alert here although I don’t tell much about the story in my rant.

      spoiler spoiler

!Didn’t like the first book much so I never gave the other ones a shot. The first book felt completely unbalanced and, as you said, rushed, and the whole plot about that far away civilization is so overconstructed that the book really fell apart at all the seams (if there were any). I don’t get the hype around it.!<

Brother. I really disliked the first book too. Never read the others. It’s hard to find people that will admit to not seeing the Emperor’s clothes with this book. You can find a few on goodreads if you dig.

        Its just bad.
