Finally the US is talking about opening the App Store. We need free and open sources apps on iOS now.
Is this because the EU broke the floodgates, or is there some other reason the US is finally looking into anti-trust enforcement now?
Elections are coming up.
This has been a problem for like 4-5 election cycles now. The US didn’t do squat in this space since Microsoft, and even that was milquetoast. To be honest, they didn’t do much this time either, for now.
That should show they don’t really care, they take a few big issues and focus that and leave the rest for next time they want a win.
Topic aside, Merrick Garland is just so disappointing… Every time I see him, he is just such a wasted opportunity. He truly needs to go down as one of history’s most prominent cowards.
Their privacy claims are bogus too. They are becoming an ad placement company, just like Google.
Yes, we know. You want to put a backdoor into one of the worlds largest and most secure smartphones by weakening its ability to protect it’s users data.
That’s not what’s discussed here. It’s not about weakening encryption, it’s about the bullshit Apple continues to make up to prevent 3rd Party app stores and such.
I never said anything about weakening encryption tbh
i prefer a tool I can actually use for many things without it holding my hand instead of a fancy doorstop

Then don’t buy an iPhone?
duh
Don’t make this a false dichotomy. Neither excludes the other. The person you replied to is building a strawman, don’t try to counter that by a false dichotomy that also includes a new strawman.
Hello Tim Apple, not that big of a fan but you are doing big things bro!!
