McConnell was very adamant, however, that it’s not his job to decide whether Trump is granted immunity against crimes committed while in office.

As the Supreme Court weighs whether Donald Trump is shielded from prosecution for acts committed while president, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said he opposes Trump’s view of absolute immunity.

It’s worse than that. The ONLY reason the GOP is breaking on this is to preserve their ability to attack Democrat Presidents.
