Man. Talk about flashbacks. She comes from the era when “gods” didn’t have stats. You either hand-built an ironclad reason you’d win while the other gods stood inactive, or you were wiped from existence.

It’s not about rolls at those demi-god levels, it’s all about fulfilling a role.

Shoutout to Replacement God by Zander Cannon. You lucky bastard, you got an /in/ and took it… but, damn. You did our boy Gnute dirty.

Thank you @[email protected] for sharing and keeping this community active!

Talking about this community, I had a look at the [email protected], and it seems like this one is the only one still active.

Do you think it would be valuable to maybe start a new generic “Imaginary” community where all type of imaginary content could be posted?

It’s a tough call. I do think there’s absolutely merit in having a broader “fantasy and scifi art” community, but to me part of the appeal of the Imaginary Network is the specific niches, like dragons or witches or spaceships or whatever. So I’d feel a little weird adding an “Imaginary Everything” to the Network.

I also definitely wouldn’t want this Fantasy/Scifi Art community to replace (accidentally or otherwise) the other Imaginary communities. They may not have daily new art, but Imaginary Starships, Witches, Merfolk have all been updated fairly recently, and I would feel very bad about making a new community that basically comes in and diverts attention away to the smaller, more specific Imaginary groups.

        Hello,

Coming back to your comment, I have been thinking about it again, and I think it could really be worth it to give a try to a larger “Imaginary” community. More specific groups would be linked, of course.

Merfolk last post was 25 days ago, Starship was 11 days ago.

Let me know if you would be interested in moderating the new community with me.

Edit: I reached out to Fairies: https://reddthat.com/post/19471223?scrollToComments=true

Hey, I’ll comment here. Are you on the Imaginary Matrix? That’s probably a better place for discussion. I can invite you and Fullofballoons if you DM me your usernames.

I like the idea of “BestOfImaginary”. We may even be able to run a bot to pick the most upvoted post of the (week/month/whatever). There may need to be some fuzziness to stop the same community being featured constantly. That sounds like a good way of showcasing some content and getting more engagement for the niches.

        Hello,

        Thank you for your comment.

If I remember correctly, on Reddit there was a /r/bestofImaginary, could that be an option? We could repost there the top content of the month from Starships, Witches etc, and also post general imaginary content?

To be honest, the niches seem a bit too small with the current size of Lemmy

Well you see. I get your point but those niches are as you said niches. Lemmy sadly doesn’t have a way to tag posts and for people to subscribe to prefered tags so they see the content they like. There are already a few more general artwork communities and the point of imaginary communities is to share images of the objects people are into without “forcing” other artworks onto them. To make the imaginary communities easier to find there’s [email protected] to showcase them. As long the niche communities are there they should be able to (hopefully) grow with time. Everything has to start somewhere.

Keeping the niche communities makes sense, the idea is more to have a generic one that would have a broader scope.

People then have the choice to just follow the general one or the specific ones

I think I now get what you meant. If you mean crossposting posts to general one then I don’t think it’s a good idea because it will result in a big number of duplicate posts on feeds which may in turn result in people disliking the communities. And as I stated there are already general artwork communities and there’s no need for another one with “imaginary” branding on it.
