Sometimes you post on Lemmy and it gets a level of traction that you were unprepared for. Right now, that just ends up filling your inbox. It would be nice if we could mute posts and then no responses would be sent to the inbox and everyone else can continue their discussions.

Heat is fine. But that’s like saying you have to lose your car every time your restaurant has a fire.
That’s… actually a pretty good analogy. I see your point, especially since the ability to mute a thread doesn’t subtract from anybody else’s experience
@TexMexBazooka @sabreW4K3 I know you mean well, but it’s ableist and exclusionary to say that we should not be using social media if we can’t “handle the heat.” Notifications can ruin my sleep or keep me from focusing on my work. We probably agree that it would be nice to engage with our audiences on our own terms - so I don’t understand where the dismissiveness comes from.
