Over on the 2e subreddit, u/EzekieruYT let everyone know that they’d stumbled across a pre-launch Kickstarter project called Pathfinder: Dragon’s Demand. Speculation swirled for a bit before former Paizo Marketing Director Aaron Shanks chimed in to quietly announce the title, and confirm that it’s being built on the 2e ruleset.
No details have been announced yet, and the studio behind it doesn’t have a deep catalogue, so who knows what it’ll actually look like in the end. People are getting hyped for PaizoCon, though.
Huh, they’re working with someone other than Owlcat. I wonder if that’s just a consequence of Owlcat currently working on Rogue Trader, or if the last few launches of Owlcat games made Paizo want to try a different team.
Or is this just another dev team licensing the ruleset, and it’s a total coincidence that the former director of marketing at Paizo is working with them?
I think they’re spreading the license around. The last I heard about Owlcat was that they weren’t interested in migrating to the 2e ruleset, so if they pick up another Pathfinder title, it’ll probably be using the 1e rules again.
And Shanks doesn’t say he’s working for Ossian, but rather that he’s “helping”, which means he’s probably taken them on as a client of his consultancy business.
Looks like Ossian has mostly made NWN2 modules and their last release was 5 years ago. Not a very prolific developer.
