The global range for operational military GHG
emissions is approximately between 300 and 600
million tonnes (Mt) of CO2 e, which is between
0.6% and 1.2% of total global GHG emissions.19
The estimate for the global military carbon
footprint is approximately between 1,600 to
3,500 MtCO 2 e, which is between 3.3% and 7.0%
of total global GHG emissions. These are wide
ranges of estimates, but they emphasise the
paucity of data in this field.
