Hey Rat Punchers!
So it’s been about two months since the community was founded, In that time we’ve grown to a healthy basic level of activity, but I’d really like to see things continue to grow.
I’ve already ported over some basic features from our former subreddit community, such as the same basic structuring of rules and an approximation of our old flair system to highlight OC and dev posts. Clearly there is more that could be done though, so I’d love to hear what sort of things you guys would like to see!
As an example, the old Pixel Dungeon subreddit used to run various events earlier in its life to help drum up activity, such as competitions with specific limited rulesets. Things like Shattered Pixel Dungeon’s seed function would help a bunch with this, although I’d want to make events possible for other versions of the game as well.
A seed compilation post would always be appreciated. Finding good seeds online is always so disorganized.
I do worry that a permanent seed compilation post would end up hogging a lot of space as a sticky, but it’s certainely possible. In general a ‘Post your X’ type megathread might work to encourage more posting.
Lurkers rise up! Post your builds!
More posts
I’m doing what I can to contribute to that myself, but there’s not a lot I can do to make other people post other than say ‘be the change you want to see in the world.’ =)
I’m new to Lemmy so there’s probably some kind of setting I’m missing, but is there a way for this app to show notifications or something? Like for new posts and stuff
There are a few different Lemmy apps, assuming you’re on Android I don’t think the default one (Jerboa) has notifications. You might want to try some different apps, I’ve heard people like Sync. Personally I just want a simple viewer so jerboa is fine.
You also can try Voyager 👌
Integrate Lemmy in the game? I.e. Send screenshot or stats to Lemmy post or profile. Post user achievements/badges/current running character in signature, or icons besides name.
Or a “daily Lemmy run” where every day we can advance only 1 level, then we can have here a post with the best runner-ups…
challenges like runs without armor, with weird builds on a specific seed, maybe challenges to do and screenshot something (like succubus and player character mutually charmed). I know a community of russian players who sometimes creates such challenges to each other, we also made a pretty big database with weapon and armor +5/+10 stats, guides for some mechanics, numbers of damage for Chalice of Blood upgrades, etc.
A limited version (like a set of seeds, except accessible even if you haven’t won yet) with a unique item or a set of items, and you can only get the code if you log into Lemmy to find it. Best for newbies because they could win with these limited items and get access to challenges and seeded runs. Similar to original rat king event way back when.
I was thinking a seasonal theme, with snowman armor and a candy cane sword/wand… a witch’s hat if it came soon enough… drops at least one in every special event ‘seed’ and it might be just the thing to help a struggling player get that first W.
Each ‘seed’ would only be available on Lemmy… that ought to boost attendance.
That sounds more like a Shattered Pixel Dungeon feature than a Lemmy event.
I would have no idea how (if even possible), but if you could tie it in to where you could only get the code here… but I suppose people would just copy/paste onto other sites… I don’t know, I suppose it was a dumb idea.
A let’s play or something could be pretty cool, or “top comment dictates next move” or whatever just to see what people go for.

maybe for an event you could post challenge seeds for a sort of turn-attack (like time-attack) contest?
That is possible, and roughly lines up with how the Pixel Dungeon subreddit did challenge runs back in the day.
A recommendation that you can use old.lemmy.world/c/pixeldungeon to use an interface like old reddit, faster and less buggy in my own particular experience.
A lot of users are on mobile, so mobile app recommendations might be more useful. I do agree though that something to point people in the right direction would be a good idea, perhaps a welcome post.

I don’t think upvoting/downvoting is changeable on a per-community basis. It’s up to the instance administrators, and I think the majority of users would want to be able to downvote.
