      Sounds awful. I don’t want ownership of my house to be exposed to malicious politicians and underfunded, incompetent bureaucrats following Byzantine regulations.

          Not really. We are in a best of both worlds situation here, with government credit backing competitive private loans.

              Kiddo, the reason we have a housing crisis is because of restrictive zoning and other barriers to redevelopment or new construction. Very much not “capitalism.”

                You are fucking high or really deep up your own ass.

                There are developments and developments of new housing that are empty. Maybe in good ol’murica, with your stupid racist zoning laws you have different issues. In Europe, the new developments are scooped up by resale/rent companies before the architect touches a mouse. And they can afford to keep them empty, at high price, because the ridiculous margins that they charge other tenants. Some of the developments are bought out as investments, because “line goes up”. Capitalism all the way.
