Someone getting elected locally, who differs in approach from the Governor is a fire-able offense? That’s some medieval shit.

In Florida? DeSantis’ Florida? Absolutely. It’s his personal fiefdom.

People keep saying he’ll be term limited out. Watch him get the legislature to change that on his behalf by 2026.

This article is about an out of control DeSantis removing several elected Democrats from their positions because he disagreed with them (because they were Democrats), and replacing them with Republicans.

Apparently, that’s what passes for a democracy in Florida.

There are many bits I’d like to quote from this article, but I’m on my mobile and don’t have a utility to save multiple clipboard entries and I’m not gonna do the work of manually saving all of them.

“Every Democratic candidate in Florida has to campaign under the threat of DeSantis removing them solely because they’re a Democrat, solely for political reasons,” Warren told Bolts.

    Fascism.

But also, this dude had a good approach: stop creating more harm, by locking people up, than whatever good is served by enforcing the law. It’s a longview approach that repubs are incapable of understanding. DeSantis is a nazi, so such an approach is impossible.

DeSantis is out of control and has regularly removed innocent Democratic politicians throughout Florida using statues that exist only to remove criminal wrongdoers and national security threats. He’s weaponised the system of appointments and operates in complete disregard for the law.
