Hello fellow trans people. I have my first appointment at the gender clinic coming up next week and I’m excited. I won’t be able to start hormone treatment yet but it’s a step in the right direction
I do skin picking which think is very similar in that it can be a source of shame if it results in visible wounds and it happens mostly due to stress.
There isn’t really an easy cure. It’s good to be aware when you’re doing it a lot, and to try and find out what the source of the stress is. If you’re otherwise bad at noticing when you’re stressed, pulling can be a useful sign and might help you to become aware of any stressful circumstances in your life. Stress can not be avoided all the time, so whenever you do find yourself in a period of stress it can be helpful to find something else to relieve your stress with, like a fidget toy or taking a walk or doing some other mind of exercises.

Love how relatable this is to so many people here. I just say ‘sure’ and try to move on because I don’t care but sometimes people really can’t let it go for some reason.
Sometimes I drink herbal tea but I still have to be careful with the kind of herbs as a lot of them also affect me negatively
I switched to tea, first strong black tea and slowly reduced the strongness untill I switched to green tea and now I don’t consume any caffeine. I never planned to stop drinking tea but unfortunately even the caffeine in green tea made me feel anxious.
The biggest step for me was quitting tea. For a few weeks I got headaches and felt fatigue in the morning that lasted a few hours. However the anxiety I get when drinking caffeine is worse. I still drink tea or coffee very sporadically and it doesn’t give as much anxiety as when I was dependent on caffeine. The habit of having a cup of coffee/tea in the morning is something I’d always loved and quitting that was the most difficult. Now I drink heated water in the morning and sometimes I add a little bit of salt. This depends on where you live but my tap water is tasty when heated.
This is so funny, I love green party infighting (they all suck).
