We need a new word for people with all the phobias. Bigot has lost its oomph, the pizaz, the gravitas.
30mph (48kmh) is the minimum, cars will also be going faster than that. Also, people need to cross the street, not just walk alongside it. Regardless, whether drivers or pedestrians are the issue, accidents happen. They are more likely to happen, and more likely to be fatal as vehicle speed increases.
From the Institute for Road Safety Research, page 2:
“According to an overview of recent studies (Rósen et al., 2011): at a collision speed of 20 km/h nearly all pedestrians survive a crash with a passenger car; about 90% survive at a collision speed of 40 km/h, at a collision speed of 80 km/h the number of survivors is less than 50%, and at a collision speed of 100 km/h only 10% of the pedestrians survive.”
Areas with minimum speeds of 30mph in areas with pedestrians accept that at least 1 in 10 will die. This is easily reduced to negligible fatalities by having lower speed limits. Not doing so says we care more about saving some of the drivers’ time than the lives of pedestrians.
My thoughts aren’t in a language, so this always confused me as a benchmark.
Using the backs of spoons to apply spreads like jams or peanut butter is better than using a knife.
I was reminded it exists today, does that count?
I had amazing cauliflower wings once, haven’t been able to recreate them.
I live on the edge of a small town. Google numbers:
I’ll leave this here. Good resource for evaluating news sources as you come across them also.
I haven’t played it myself, but I understand there are mods to remove nudity at least, and I would expect the sexual violence as well. That would be a requirement for me to try it.
Fear and Hunger is a contender. If you aren’t aware, imagine a JRPG where you kill god at the end, but you don’t ever level up. Also the first enemy you fight is very likely to kill you, and has just as much of a chance of doing so on your 100th playthrough. Oh, and you start from the beginning every time you die.
Health, vision, and dental are all separate in the US.
Context is important, since the person saying this has a security detail and holds office where the threat of violence against them is real.
We all have a visceral reaction to this because we’ve had an adjacent experience at some point. You know it’s true.
I think the point is that incentivizing people to have more sex isn’t the answer to a declining birth rate.
Well I’m not an EV expert, but I have worked in the tire industry for 7 years so that’s my lay person’s understanding of why electric vehicle owners tend to burn through tires.
Key takeaway is that this isn’t unique to Cybertrucks, as much as we’d all like to dunk on it. Another commenter pointed out Rivians have similar treadlife issues, and I know certainly other Tesla models do.
Electric vehicles are notoriously hard on tires, since the high torque motors don’t have as gradual of a buildup to momentum. That combined with the heavier load would absolutely kill treadlife, I imagine.
Shadowdark ftw
They have a skill floor that you need to overcome, usually early on. Once you do that, the formula for the rest of the game follows suit.
Bloodborne is my favorite souls game. If you find it too challenging, I’d recommend watching some let’s plays which can have great advise. I don’t typically watch his channel, but Jacksepticeye has a really informative playthrough. He’s beaten the game so many times that he mostly just shows you the cheesy speed run methods for boss fights, however.
