That’s a sound strategy.
That’s a sound strategy.
Sounds corny but I’m really grateful for the love of my children right now. They’re grouse little people and the strong bond we share makes me feel like I am a good person, despite my various failings.
Honestly who is coming up with these awful flavours? Same thing on the crunchy side of the snack aisle (looking at you, cinnamon donut twisties).
I never really stop buying icecream through the winter. Demand for Streets Blue Ribbon vanilla ice cream or those generic brand Cornetto knock offs is fairly consistent in this house.
Yeah the mental health is not great. I think he talks to his mates a bit but it’s an echo chamber where most of them are drinkers/chronic long term weed users and are all enabling each other, so it’s not all that healthy. He’s having mental health assessments at the moment as part of his medication review so hopefully that leads to something positive for him. In the meantime I have lots of things for him to do lol.
There is a men’s shed near us, and it’s a great idea, but he went along once with a mate of his and didn’t like it. It was a few years ago so I can’t exactly remember the reason, maybe he should give it another go. Sounded cool to me; women’s social groups near me seem to be either sewing or craft related, full of seniors, or rich women networking while doing yoga or pilates lol.
So things have quietened down a bit since Mr P’s Hulk smash of the bed. He is now using some salvaged wood bits of the bed and other wood bits to build himself a new base. He’s done this before (built himself a day bed for the man cave) so he’ll probably end up with something ok-ish. Good; he needs a project, and he hasn’t been coping well with becoming a house husband.
The Minipeelers were surprisingly unphased by the whole incident. Sadly, I think they’re used to their dad’s spontaneously nutty outbursts.
Elder Minipeeler is doing fantastically with his treatment for anxiety. He’s spending slightly longer at school each time and he’s really starting to noticeably change. He wants to get fit so he’s roped in Miniest as a fitness buddy, doing things like dancing with those kids dancercise apps for exercise, and mock WWE WrestleMania lol. The latter is, as a parent, both really entertaining and a little alarming at times (“No you can not German suplex your brother!”)
😍I love Mickey!
Came home last night to this:
Mr P reckons he fell through his bed, tried to fix it and couldn’t, and then smashed it up and threw it out onto the garden he’s just spent ages trying to tidy up. Now he’s sleeping on a mattress on the floor. I talked about getting a new bed, but my MIL said “how ridiculous! bloody leave him there and he can enjoy it!” With all the kerfuffle, nobody remembered to put the bins out 🤦🏼♀️😭
Changed the car insurance to a monthly payment, which costs a little more but is more manageable for me. With Elders therapy appointments, his laptop needing to be taken to get fixed, and the possibility of having to buy a new bed (and the Minipeelers are due new mattresses as well) the cheaper annual payment is not really an option anymore.
Good morning everyone! 🤣
I bought the Minipeelers knockoff oodies and matching pants from the qvm, plus just the pants for myself, about 2 years ago. They are holding up brilliantly, so well that they look like they were purchased more recently. Can’t vouch for the ones they’re selling atm, but I’m very happy with the ones I got.
Get it Gibbo!
Edit: ice cropping shitlo
I know what you mean by the click moment. Anxiety is a thief that tries to steal our confidence. Some days all you feel like you’re doing is chipping away at slivers of victory and completion. It sucks, but it’s ok. A day of some small wins is still a day worth having.
They always conk out when you need them most! As surely as fridges act out in summer.
That’s one of my favourite YouTube train videos ever! Love Taitset. Funny I’ve travelled that route thousands of times and never noticed that gradient.
I know a guy who sneezed in the shower while bending down and twisting slightly to pick up a shampoo bottle off the floor behind him, and put his back out such that he never worked again.
Sound advice, thanks for that!
Fried up some chicken, mixed it with the leftover savoury rice mix and made parcels out of it, some with flatbread and some with leftover pizza dough. Did more laundry, very nearly finished it too lol. Watched some wrestling with Elder minipeeler. He said he wants to be a pro wrestler when he grows up. I think he’s partly been inspired by how accessible, friendly and cool the guys at Lucha Fantastica are. I could picture him as a luchador in a travelling show, and I don’t know exactly how I feel about that. Not that it makes any difference, it’s his dream not mine. Miniest wants to be 10 different things and doesn’t know which thing to pick. I said why pick one? You can be an artist and a vet and a cake decorator and run an animal refuge and design gardens etc. Look at Leonardo da Vinci, he was lots of things.
Cat tax please 🙏
A bit of a setback for Elder this morning. The welfare person at his school suggested we try next term for three morning sessions a week in class for an hour each time. When I mentioned it to Elder he had a meltdown, couldn’t sleep and now isn’t going to this morning’s meeting at all 😟😔 It seems like a bit of a leap from where he is now, and I only told him what it might look like and I didn’t push, but I guess it’s my fault and I feel like I’ve set him back by even mentioning it. His therapist actually suggested that online virtual schools might be the solution for now because he’s missed the whole first year of highschool up to this point, but the problem with that is Mr P is dyslexic and is not au fait with internet and tech and I have work, so there’d be nobody at home in a position to support him. I’m going to talk to my boss about more flexible hours (the financial planner in my head says, “but we need the money dammit!”), but I’m not optimistic as it is a factory job after all. Virtual Schools Victoria, aside from when the classes are held via video conferencing, are actually very flexible in their scheduling. Going to work now with all this running around in my head and had to put it somewhere 🤯😵💫
