Feels good to hear someone else say this. I regularly try switching and always end up finding bugs in the DE or clients. Some issues I’ve found have existed for years with no fix in sight.
I worry we’ll end up in a situation where X11 starts accumulating bugs due to lack of maintenance while Wayland takes ages to mature.
Apparently they have no ammo to replace it with too.
Westoid missiles proven inferior to Iranian missiles on the battlefield? Yemen has shot down multiple of these with no problem.
NYT: Evidence Suggests Ukrainian Missile Caused Market Tragedy
From their original article:
A Russian missile strike in Kostyantynivka that killed at least 17 and injured more than 30 others was one of the deadliest in months.
I don’t understand how both the copilot and flight engineer were supposedly totally oblivious to what was happening until they landed. Wouldn’t landing in a random field look suspicious? Doesn’t a proper landing take a minute?
I wouldn’t be surprised if they coerced the pilot and straight up executed the other two guys to avoid them saying what really happened.
I certainly don’t expect Trump to be “good” for Russia. It’s just that he’s more of a wildcard versus Biden who will always go out of his way to hurt Russia. There is also a good chance Trump will further weaken US hegemony whether or not that is his intention.
The timing of the inevitable Russian offensive. To minimize losses, it might be best for Russia to defend until 2025 or 2026. However, Putin might accept greater losses to attack in 2024 if it also has potential to influence the US election.
I don’t mean like a single “grand plan” or anything. Just observing things as they happen and preparing actions accordingly.
If Russia’s intelligence says Ukraine’s military is weak, and the US election is known to happen on a specific date, that allows Putin to formulate a plan to take advantage of that.
The lib consensus seems to be that Putin is hoping Trump wins the 2024 election and pulls the rug, forcing Ukraine to accept defeat. I can’t help but wonder if Putin is planning almost the opposite. Steamroll Ukraine in 2024, before the US election, shocking the West. Trump can then use that complete failure as ammunition to secure victory. Frankly, I think a second Trump presidency is already pretty likely, and that little nudge might push it into “sure thing” territory.
Based on the experience of testing in the Northern Military District, the electronics will be modified in the Armata tanks, after which they are planned to be put into production and begin to be delivered to the troops next year, Murakhovsky, one of the leading Russian military experts, told RIA Novosti
Of course, “being delivered to the troops” doesn’t necessarily mean they will be used on the frontline in Ukraine.
Ukrainian infantry crossed the anti-tank fortifications and attacked into the Russian infantry trenches. No vehicles have made it yet, to my knowledge.
It seems that they are trying to clear a buffer zone with infantry only so that the vehicles have more time to get through safely. I don’t think the defenses should be considered “broken” until vehicles can cross semi-reliably.
Something exploded in a civilian area in Ukrainian-held Konstantinivka, killing 16 and wounding 30, and of course mainstream western media jumped to say Russia did it (on purpose).
It has already been (CW: video of the explosion) all but proven that it was an accidental Ukrainian strike. Surely the media will issue corrections any minute now, and refrain from doing this again in the future
I guess the difference is that you’re not trying to totally hide the existence of something, but rather make it look like something else. For example: making a large ship look like a smaller one.

Looking past the Ukrainian assertions that Russia is “strapping tires to its planes” in a desperate attempt to mitigate damage, whatever Russia is doing appears to be some kind of sensor camouflage.
My understanding is that some drones/missiles rely on preloaded (radar-based?) images of the target in order to home in on it. By disrupting the appearance of the planes, that type of targeting wouldn’t work, I guess?
Russia has had negative troops according to pro-Ukrainian trackers for a while now, so you can imagine their surprise. Ruzzian Orthodox necromancy has clearly been working overtime.
Exclusive: U.S. to send its first depleted uranium rounds to Ukraine -sources
I have mentioned this before, but as a reminder: the primary danger of Depleted Uranium (DU) ammunition is not radioactivity. Rather, it is the toxic dust particles that form when the round hits a vehicle or building. Anyone who enters such an enclosed area contaminated with DU particles is at risk of serious health consequences if they breathe them in. Drinking water contaminated with DU is also dangerous. Those dust particles will essentially never go away on their own, since the half life of DU is over 4 billion years.
I swear, almost everything Budanov says is true if you swap “Russia” and “Ukraine”.
It just looks so soulless. Everything is grey and the characters look like they were generated in MakeHuman. Even the UI looks incredibly boring and like it was slapped together in a weekend.
I don’t think it provides the cohesive, alive base experience that previous Bethesda RPGs did, which I would argue is what allowed modding to be so successful.
One of my all time favorite games. The only thing that would have made it better for me is a time-based story a la Dead Rising. Though that would have probably made the game even less successful than it was.
