  • Admin for lemmynsfw here, you are mixing things up a bit. vlemmy (an instance that mysteriously disappeared recently after defederating from a instance thats hosts lolicon) was the Irish one. lemmynsfw.com has changed policy’s recently to make a healthier community, maintain federation with other instances, and generally figure things out for the better with lemmys limited software.

Either way, you can browse pornlemmy communities and lemmynsfw communities between each other since we federate with each other. All that matters is that right now those seem to be the only current NSFW instances attempting to operate responsibly and legally, to my present knowledge at least.

  • I think it’s fair for people to be upset when there’s spam on the site. But, we’ve so far had issues with only actual spam but not really any true spam from OF models. It seems so far that content creators have been extra careful on that end. Like, as long as the links are in the body or comments in most communities it is more than fine and thats generally whats been going on currently as far I can see. Sex workers need to make money too and getting instant mass reports on OF models for daring to want to make money off their content they are graciously providing to us for free as a community is downright absurd and deeply annoying to have to sift thru. I can get outright exhibitionist communities, but those need to be clear about such imo.

Honestly whether people want to admit it or not, we need content creators for this community to thrive and grow. If it becomes any issue in the future then a conversation will be had, but there really isn’t any issue at the moment.

  • It should be noted that this happened like 10 days ago, and due to a major federation glitch this and the other post is just reaching the lemmyverse now. It’s weird, and probably kind of jarring for all this to enter the fediverse at once. I was so confused as to why no one outside of lemmynsfw was talking about our community meta drama, but I realized the federation glitch was why. More so at this point for those on other instances ,it should be noted that one should be mindful of the age of these events. If we do have to lock this due to the comment running its course though, we will but I am hopeful we won’t.

  • Correct. It won’t be for using the site in general, rather for those posting OC so they can be sourced and vouched for. It’ll be the same as others where we won’t outward require all to be verified before posting always, but more so in the same instance we don’t outright require sourcing but strongly suggest it. If it’s not sourced, and issues is raised and it seems to be probable/sourcing isnt there and we cant really verify beyond that, it’ll be removed and its on the user to appeal that. It’ll be a means of “sourcing” OC creators basically. We plan on trying to hash it out more but it will likely work similarly to reddit sub specific verification (but sitewide) with an OC verification and an age verification when in question. More info will be available as we hash it out more. Think the way gonewild does, like holding a sign. We want to have more control over it than reddit did and also make sure the people we are placing in the specific community responsible for doing verifications are fully vouched for by site staff instead of having a bunch of communities making up their own procedure and that own mess.

  • The purpose of the lemmyverse is be federated as a platform overall. If you aren’t at least attempting federation with other instances you’re more or less just a forum (imo)

That and it would cripple the instance. If every single instance defederated from us, user growth would stagnate. Seeing the content federate into all incentivizes people to join in and engage.

  • Admin for lemmynsfw here, I just wanted to chime in that I 100% agree and feel that this is a feature that needs be baked into lemmy as a software overall. People who do not want to see pornography need to be able to block it in some way at the very least. There also does need to be an overall differentiation between NSFW content and pornography as well, since it feels particularly problematic to not have a distinction between the two. I think it is likely that content warnings will come to lemmy though, but we will see. Our back-end team is currently working to figure this out to identify our specific needs as an instance, but it’s an uphill battle. Hopefully connect developers add this feature at least to provide a temporary fix, and I hope other app devs follow suit.
