I know Tales From The Loop wasn’t for everyone but it did a remarkably good job of translating it. It felt like the show runners really “got” his work. The score, the cinematography, the pacing…I think it’s a beautiful series. It reminded me of Battlestar Galactica in the sense that the sci-fi was just the backdrop for the story, not the whole point of it.

The trailer for The Electric State is one catchphrase away from being a Marvel movie. I don’t mean that as an insult to Marvel, though - it’s just the wrong aesthetic for a slow, grounded story by Simon Stalenhag.

I learned recently that a porch in the US (an outdoor area in front of the house) is different than the traditional use of the word. Everywhere else, a porch is an enclosed space before the main doors.

(Also worth noting) The US version of a porch gained popularity in the antebellum south because, like awnings, it prevents sunlight from beating down on a window while still letting light in

That’s a crazy choice in my opinion. Brian Thompson made what, 10 million a year? They could pay me 1/4 of his salary and I’d do everything I could to destroy the company until I got fired. I’d get AT LEAST one paycheck which would be a life-changing amount of money for the majority of the country.

The trailer looks like a typical hyped up Hollywood scifi movie. Instead of the introspective vibe that makes Simon’s work so iconic, it stars Chris Pratt and plays a booming orchestral cover of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. It’s VERY in-your-face…give it a watch and I think you’ll understand why I’m disappointed

We had an assembly about drunk driving that had a mock scene with a car on the football field.

Then a guy gave a speech about him killing two people while drunk driving and how badly it’s affected his life. He made a joke about his school’s football team beating ours in the championship that year which incited my friend to scream “MURDERER!” at the top of his tongues

From the sign, I’m guessing this is a single location restaurant without the money to spend on AV. There is no digital signage system to update, it’s just a USB with a jpg plugged into each TV and the owner would need their nephew’s help updating them.

I work in commercial AV and my old company was often the first people the restaurants worked when they could afford it. I replaced several “systems” exactly like this.

Just finished eating it and it was surprisingly good. A variety of tasty breakfast wraps and the tortilla had a perfect amount of crisp. Not the sad, saggy wraps like a hotel buffet.
