  • I am copying a reply I made to another post:

    …no.

The DNC brain trust thought they could get away with ignoring an absolutely fucking HUGE part of their base. And they were fucking WRECKED for it.

Trump got just about the same number of votes as he did in the last election. Harris got 11M less votes than Biden got. ELEVEN. MILLION. PEOPLE. STAYED THE FUCK HOME. BECAUSE THEY SAW THE ESTABLISHMENT CIRCLEJERK. AND HARRIS FUCKING LEANED INTO IT. AND IGNORED THE VERY FUCKING REAL LIVED EXPERIENCE OF THE MIDDLE CLASS GETTING HOLLOWED OUT, AND THE LOWER CLASS CONTINUING TO GET CRUSHED TO DEATH.

And now we get to listen to pundits and DNC leadership and Biden admin people and Harris campaign people circlejerk themselves about how it wasn’t their fault, it was those goddamn progressives and the stupid Arab Americans who cared about Gaza too much.

Genuinely: fuck all the way off with that narrative. the Democratic Party snatched this defeat from the jaws of victory. There was a path to victory. They simply didn’t fucking take it.

  • I mean… her story about what happened on J6 is frankly pretty fucking harrowing. Don’t get me wrong - being a Bronx bartender as a young, attractive woman must be pretty damn sketchy at times, but as a singular event, especially after becoming an extremely well known and (depending on political affiliation) adored/reviled politician, I daresay this might take the cake.

And I don’t mean to diminish her past experience of assault by saying that either. All I mean is that a relatively sudden, unexpected assault, while traumatic, has a much different mental context than knowing “there’s a group of people who have HATED me for my entire term, and they’ve broken in, and the don’t just want to relish in their power over me if they catch me, but they will want to torment me as long as possible, and they will definitely kill me, and it won’t be quick”.

  • There’s a big fucking difference in my mind between voting for Trump and not voting. I know the electoral math makes those choices roughly equivalent, but in terms of personal motivations, there is a difference.

This is, to be frank, a big step in viewpoint for me. Before the election, I was all “staying home is a vote for Trump”. I was doing my best to be pragmatic. But I cannot deny that the DNC shit the bed SUPER HARD here. And thus, I cannot deny the fact that there’s a BIG difference between “I’ll vote for the party that’s gonna fuck me over more rapidly” and “I don’t want to vote for either party that’s been fucking me over for close to two decades”.
