Technocratic ideology to me isn’t just investing in technology, you’re suggesting I’m that dumb? Holy shit. Technocratic ideology to me involves pushing forward with destructive technologies without considering future or present societal impacts. There was a time when the US highway system was considered “latest technology” and so the car’s unquestioning adoption by the masses has led us to climate change today. Same with social media and bitcoin. Advances in technology are part of what has allowed Capitalism to persist well into the modern day, why you keep hearing from these same bozos about “innovation” on CNBC and whatnot. And they look for it in the dumbest places.
I meant it as a jab at the technocratic ideology, like self determination and “the grind” are their jam but also they need the Burning Man Project LLC to organize laborers for when things actually get rough. Which apparently wasn’t enough for one dude but IDK they aren’t saying how he died.
flix should have seen that coming ngl.
From IntelSlava:
🇺🇸⚡️ American rapper Chief Keef has thrown his support behind former President Trump amid the latter’s arrest by Georgia State authorities involving his case related to the 2020 election.
Chief Keef is a well known member of one of Chicago’s toughest gangs (O Block), and his endorsement suggests the mobilization of supporters by the former President might be reaching a militant stage.
Big if true? Trump won’t be smoking resi in prison if the militant wing of O Block can help it? BRICS = Brick Squad???
I think Putin tried to serve Prigozhin his “just desserts” after all, his coup attempt did get a plane with pilot shot down along with some helicopters. That’s betrayal, big time. Not a normal opponent for Putin imo.
The Radio War Nerd series on the American Civil War has opened my eyes to one thing that frankly should have been obvious to me earlier: the regular union army had to drag their leadership to take any truly aggressive action against the rebels.
All the union leadership went to the same war colleges as the rebel leadership, Sherman included. The Union side tried acting chivalrous for years while the Rebels spit in their faces. As a result, several more years of useless bloodshed passed. It was General Grant who convinced Sherman the March tot he Sea was the way to go. Sherman was the last guy in the Union army to realize that the Rebels were not going to just come to their senses by themselves.
JOHN BROWN, ON THE OTHER HAND SHOULD HAVE HATCHED A BETTER PLAN TO FREE THE SLAVES
I guess the problem then is I care about having a government that doesn’t want to kill me or leave me to die, then. Excuse me, I should have been caring about civility within our decaying governing structure while people roast alive on the street! Oh you’ve made me see the light, you sure have.
Hawaii has never seen any wildfire or wildfire conditions like this before: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/10/climate/hawaii-fires-climate-change.html
Of course there should be preparations to counter climate change as it continues to aggravate situations like this, but I don’t like the excuse where the feds can blame the states and the states can blame the feds when shit hits the fan. It has become an excuse for inaction. Hurricane Katrina, Texas ice storms, California wildfires, the Kentucky floods, this could have been sorted out looonng ago.
Why do we make the choice to keep things this way when they always lead to disasters?
They think they just really like Mali over in lemmy.ml
The Hawaiian court upheld it’s own historic, pre-colonial laws over the US constitution, but of course the libs that wrote this find The Wire to be a more credible document.
