For real though, prom can be an exclusionary, torturous experience, especially for kids who aren’t cisgender, heterosexual, white, neurotypical, able-bodied, or financially comfortable. In very conservative areas, the rules around who can attend often include stipulations that dates must be opposite genders, and the dress code requires assigned-gender conformation. It’s not unusual for prom to be held at a country club or other establishment with an exclusionary, bigoted past.

Anti-Prom is an effort to make something fun for the kids that those proms leave behind.

Kinda hilarious to think about this person making these decals themself or getting someone they know with a Cricut to cut these out and apply them. I like to think a tantrum ensued when the slant started to become obvious on the side panel, especially considering how well the tailgate came out. But back to that right: could you please point to an example of an oppressed people successfully freeing themselves non-violently?

Any thoughts on the decades of increasing oppression the Palestinian people have suffered or are you just pretending this uprising is happening in a vacuum?

Union chapters in Iowa, Chicago and Boston promoted rallies in support of Palestinians after some 5,000 Hamas rockets rained down on Israel.

We’ll just neglect to mention the white phosphorus and pretend these rockets are the only things raining down on anyone.

They addressed this in the Hamas press conference - not only do they not have enough personnel to answer all the calls for help they were getting from people trapped in the rubble, but they don’t have the equipment to move the rubble, and also it keeps getting bombed so they wouldn’t even be able to do much even if they had the people and equipment.

Me neither, but it makes sense to me that the tone of discourse would have experienced a rightward shift after the API changes.

It seems to me that the kind of people that would care enough about fairness and equity to be upset enough about the way the API changes negatively affected the unpaid volunteers curating their favorite communities to actually disrupt their own online lives and leave those communities’ platforms to go join others, establishing a presence there and abandoning previous platforms, are probably the same kind of people that care about fairness and equity in their actual real world lives.

Idk, maybe I’m naive. That’s why I left and stayed gone, though, and I doubt I’m the only one.
