Two years ago, the Lily Hill Farm’s website and online store went live, selling directly to customers beef that is pasture-raised “without additional growth hormones, antibiotics, or animal by-products,” the website states. And through their social media sites, Avery and Marc work to establish personal connections with customers.
Family farms in the United States are steadily going under as corporate packers continue to vertically integrate and consolidate control over the beef, pork, and poultry markets. Small farmers also struggle to compete with larger feedlots. They are aging, and few farms are being passed on to the next generation.
The thing is the article really doesn’t go any deeper into this. It’s all surface level stuff.
The Epoch Times is known for being a far right news source that foregoes good reporting if it means pushing their political agenda. The Wikipedia page I linked discusses this and links to a few pages that go further into detail but they’re probably most well known for spreading misinformation about COVID19.
It is understandably harder to even begin to engage with an article when you distrust its publisher and feel like secondary sources are required to verify anything it has to say.
