I purchased a tube of thermal paste for my Xbox 360 and would like to reapply the thermal paste on my X200s. I am struggling to find videos about reapplying thermal paste on it. Most videos seem to be complete disassembly videos that remove the motherboard but I am wondering if this is necessary. There is one post on Reddit that seemed to detail the processes but it has been deleted.
I would appreciate any advice or videos you would recommend to walk me through the process.
I think you would only need to go to step six assuming the fan top left of step 6 image is over the CPU heatsink

edit - approx 14:45 you can see the CPU and heatsink is actually on the underside of the image in step 6 so youll need to take it apart further
Look for the Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM for short) for your machine. They are legendary for thinkpads, providing step-by-step guides for full disassembly.
Yes you do. The CPU and heatsink on older machines are facing downwards on those machines.
Recently Lenovo finally switched to the “remove the bottom and get full access” approach which is amazing for maintenance.
