For an Analogue device that’s actually pretty reasonable, especially considering the price of the retro market.

The 8BitDuo controller releasing alongside it I’m sure is also great.

Still can’t afford it but it’s nice that the price is reasonable.

Honestly I thought this would cost like USD 800 or something mental like that. For that price, I think I’m going to try to get it…

Yeah, the price is very good. If I had N64 games I would definitely try to get it. Which is pretty much my opinion about all Analogue products.

Same although no OpenFPGA compatibility means every core has to be ported, again… I’ll stick to Pocket for now and will wait and see if someone does PSX and Saturn cores for this.

Why would I spend $250 on this when emulators are free?

I have heard that N64 emulation is pretty imperfect. There’s also something beautiful about being able to play your original cartridges on a machine that will output them better than the original hardware for modern TVs. If I didn’t have to buy new laundry appliances right now I might actually consider it. My dryer’s gas valve is the bane of my existence

You really don’t have to. It’s for collectors who have cartridges and want to experience them on a HDTV.

you’re getting downvoted but you’re not wrong. N64 emulation has been as good as it’ll get for a long while (remember, we were playing N64 games flawlessly on the Wii, which itself is now retro to many!), and compared to older consoles with quirky bespoke hardware, the benefits of hardware emulation like FPGAs over software emulation are diminished for the N64 to begin with. if you do want to go the FPGA route, Taki Udon’s MiSTeR Pi is cheaper than this and can load any number of cores instead of just the N64. ultimately you’re paying a premium for an experience that’s either as good as or worse than a plethora of cheaper options
