Yes, there is a necessary amount of censorship to keep things legal. There was a run of child sexual assault images that made it’s way on to some of the Lemmy communities early on and thankfully they have been removed because of admin and user actions. There are also admins and users that report off topic content that keeps communities and instances in their lane.
