The U.S. government has regularly dispatched hundreds of monitors to voting locations in blue, red and swing states, aiming to protect ballot access, discourage improper partisan influence and act as a moderating force on political campaigns.

Paywall. Idk how all these people believe we can afford all these subs when so many live at or near paycheck to paycheck.

I’m waiting for the day search engines and internet access to each page require subs, above and beyond the monthly connection bills.

A lot of us use uBlock Origin, so can easily bypass paywalls by disabling Javascript.

Lemmy is much more difficult to use on PC. I use an app on apple to just auto feed everything and then block the things I don’t want to see, like sports, hexbear, other languages, and porn. Lemmy is small enough that this strategy works.

        But yea, ublock on PC.

I use uBlock on mobile. I also take the same strategy as you do. I generally browse all and new or hot and just block the communities / magazines that I’m not interested in seeing.

Honestly I would prefer micro transactions for high quality news. I might be alone, but I would prefer just to load up a few bucks and pay like a penny an article.

They should hire that guy who worked for EA and unity engine who suggested people pay for each bullet in video games. Then they can charge per search and eventually graduate to charging searches based on the complexity of the search. I shouldnt use lemmy when im drunk. Im giving corpos too many ideas.
