It’s so hard! And it’s good to find good help as well. Always makes me feel so anxious

My friend got an interactive thingamajig. It’s connected to Wi-Fi, it has a camera that moves, it has a toy hanging off the top that’s connected to the camera, and it can dispense treats. It also has a microphone and a speaker, so you can talk to and hear the kitties. That seemed pretty neat

Get a good catsitter (a trustworthy friend, or a reliable professional), and get them to send you photos/video daily.

I have gradually set up cameras all throughout my home so that I can peek in on them whenever I feel like it. I also just avoid leaving for extended periods and/or drag them along with me.

I’ve done this as well! But sometimes I have to travel for work or family. Not looking forward to it… :(

I feel ya. Currently trying to figure out how to get out of upcoming holiday travels since dragging them along won’t be an option.

I guess I also look forward to the extra affection they give me when I return, and usually try to plan for a “decompression” day (or at least half day) as soon as I return so that I can take full advantage.

That’s tough! Glad you will get to spend a day with them when you get back. I’ve been thinking how to play with them and made them feel more loved? What do you do? I mostly just let on them and give them their favorite snacks. Was thinking of new ideas

My oldest is pretty cuddly, but only on his terms, so I’m always excited to curl up on the couch or in bed and enjoy some snuggle time. If I have the energy, I might do some play time with the wand toy or some clicker training with their favorite treats. If I’m feeling more lazy, just tossing treats… They love chasing them!

I think they’ll let you know what they want. I definitely feel you on the urge to go over the top with spoiling them, but what they probably appreciate most is just having you back. I’ve come to realize that most of my efforts to spoil my cats are more about me than they are about the cats.

How do I handle it? Well I start by breaking down and crying a few times with a few extra doses off anxiety.

We have an RV and usually bring them with us, which generates its own set of issues, but at least we’re not missing them!

Of course that doesn’t work for trips abroad, so we hired a company to come in daily and take care of them while we were gone. They sent us pictures and updates!

I recently went on an RV roadtrip with my cat. It is amazing all the nooks and crannies that they can get find and get into. I am so glad I invested in one of those Tile trackers to put on her collar. Luckily she got used to travelling after a couple days!
