I’ve seen comments across Lemmy from people registered to Lemmy.ml, who defend Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

I think Lemmy.ml is meant to be leftist (I assume the “ML” is short for Marxist-Leninist). How can any leftist support Russia’s imperialist invasion of Ukraine? Also modern Russia has similarities with fascist states.

I was banned from a community on Lemmy.ml, I think it was World News, simply because I stated some facts about the invasion of Ukraine. The ban reason is that I was allegedly spreading US propaganda or something like that.

So if I made this post on another Lemmy.ml community I assume they’d just ban me.

what do you mean by “support”

Support, defend, etc. I’ve seen posts from Lemmy.ml saying that Russia had to invade Ukraine and murder its people in order to defend Russia from NATO. But I’ve never seen any sign that NATO was preparing to attack or invade Russia. And even if they were, they could do that without Ukraine being part of NATO.

To me it seems the invasion of Ukraine is just the Kremlin trying to expand their power, even if that means murdering Ukrainians and sacrificing thousands of Russians.

Why not ask this on lemmy.ml, with which your instance is federated?

Because most .ml communities are run by mods who would Ban This Sick Filth™

I don’t block the instance even though I disagree with the majority of it. I try my best to see multiple viewpoints even if i disagree on things to understand where people are coming from.

I have never seen a counterpoint on there discussed in good faith. Any counter facts are claimed to be false no matter how reliable the source. My finger creeps closer and closer to the block instance button every day.
